Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) Explained

What is an Advanced Dining Reservation?

Walt Disney World’s Advanced Dining Reservations, or ADRs, are similar to reservations at your favorite local restaurant. You make your reservation for a certain restaurant at a given time. On that day, you arrive at the restaurant the recommended 15 minutes before your reservation time and get seated as soon as possible. There are exceptions where sometimes you’ll be seated early and others you’ll be seated later than your reservation, but Disney generally tries to get you to your table as quickly as possible.

Why do I need reservations?

Gone are the days when you could walk up to almost any restaurant and get seated immediately or with a minimal wait. Many restaurants will not have any walk-up seating available, meaning you’ll want to have reservations. Some of the most popular restaurants will by completed booked almost immediately – namely Be Our Guest and Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom and Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Resort.

When can I make my ADRs?

Walt Disney World ADRs can be made beginning at 6:00am ET online or 7:00am ET by phone, 180 days prior to arrival. For my clients, we create of list of restaurants they want to visit about 2 weeks prior to their 180 day mark so I’m ready to make the reservations as soon as they become available. I work with them to develop a plan for which days they want to visit a given park and plan their dining accordingly.

Disney guests staying on-site at an official Disney hotel can book ADRs for their entire stay (up to 10 days) all on the same day. For those staying off-site, reservations can be made one day at a time, 180 days prior to each day you’ll be in the park. If you’re less than 180 days from your vacation, the reservations can be made at any time.
