“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney
Hello. My name is Miranda and I’m a Disney-holic…
When I was a little girl, I knew what I wanted to be… I wanted to work for Walt Disney. There are pictures of me in kindergarten, holding my “What I Want to Be When I Grow Up” poster, complete with pictures of Mickey Mouse. Through the years, I had the standard naysayers who told me a little girl from Kentucky wasn’t going to work for Disney. Then, of course, there was the shocking realization that I would never be able to work for Walt Disney as he died in 1966 (minor details). However, I was not deterred!
When I was 20 years old, I fulfilled my dream by working as a Cast Member at Walt Disney World. I spent a semester in Orlando, Florida, as a part of the Disney College Program. It was an amazing experience, but after a few months I returned home to finish my degree in psychology.
Somewhere along the line, I got wrapped up in “adulting.” I went on to get my graduate degree in psychology and began working in psychiatric research. I worked on academic papers and took extra classes. I enjoyed these things (and still do), but nothing seems to hold my interest as much as my love of Disney.
A few years ago, I began my first foray into blogging, writing about random Disney things that came to my mind. As time has gone on, I have gained a more specific focus to my writing – exploring Disney as an adult. Travels in Neverland Blog is a place for those adults that refuse to grow up… who believe in magic… who have a little pixie dust in their veins! On my blog, I share about mine and my husband’s adventures as a couple, share advice for those traveling both with and without kids, and provide general vacation tips and hints.
Disney is not just for kids, but those who are kids at heart. For me, Disney represents a world where the good guy always wins, the calories in food don’t count, and smiles are genuine. It may not be reality, but in 42 square miles of central Florida, I find magic.
